Roles and Responsibilities

Location:           Telford/ Shrewsbury

Reports to:        Placement Counsellor Lead

OVERALL, PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

To work with adults, who have experienced any form of sexual abuse at any time in their life, by offering a range of therapeutic interventions via face-to-face counselling in keeping with trauma informed principles.

A trauma sensitive approach is needed, working with people to avoid crisis and the risk of re-traumatisation and to help build confidence and resilience that enable people to engage with the counselling process.

Duties and responsibilities

 

  • Complete assessments including ongoing risk assessment and management, one to one counselling, case formulation and assessing the appropriateness of counselling for clients in collaboration with Placement Counsellor Lead.
  • Provide counselling to clients in line with Axis guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate electronic and appropriate paper records of clinical work and provide appropriate statistical returns as required.
  • Assist in the evaluation of the service by contributing to data collection.
  • Maintain effective time management to ensure clients are not kept waiting.
  • Engage in clinical supervision and line management requirements as specified in the Axis Supervision policy.
  • Attend meetings and/or training as required.
  • Be aware of and comply with the AXIS policies, procedures, and service standards.
  • Participate in any other activities as directed by Placement Counsellor Lead and members of Axis Management Team.
  • Ensure that all safeguarding concerns are dealt with in a consistent manner, in line with Axis’ policies and procedures.

Personal development and support

  • Attend monthly line management/casework supervision.
  • Attend fortnightly clinical supervision.
  • Attend mandatory training opportunities.
  • Maintain Continual Personal Development during the placement.
  • Adhere to the procedures and requirements of your training organisation.
  • If you are undertaking a placement with another provider at any time to be aware of Axis Confidentiality policy and procedures and Axis intellectual property rights.
  • Axis clients may only be discussed with an Axis appointed Supervisor.

Other

  • Manage allocated clients in collaboration with Placement Counsellor Lead.
  • Daily use of IT such as Teams, Outlook and other Microsoft Office products and various internal systems.
  • Undertake any other tasks and responsibilities that fall within the nature of the role, and as required by the Placement Counsellor Lead, other members 0f the Management Team, CEO or Board of Trustees.
  • Work within the policies and procedures of Axis Counselling.
  • Promote the ethos and values of Axis Counselling.
  • Work flexibly as a member of the team and be responsive to changing needs.
  • This role will be subject to terms and conditions of a 12-month contract which will also involve a probationary period and Axis reserves the right to terminate the placement without notice.
