About Axis

The Axis (Axis Counselling) is a UK based charity providing support to survivors of sexual abuse.

Modern slavery is an umbrella term that covers human trafficking, slavery, servitude and forced labour. As a charity and a small business with a low headcount we assess ourselves to have a low risk of modern slavery both in our business and our supply chains.

Our commitment to the principles of the Modern Slavery Act 2015

Axis is opposed to slavery and human trafficking and is committed to making meaningful improvements to sustainable workplace conditions and business practices including, but not limited to, the prevention of forced or trafficked labour.

We are committed to ensuring that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in our supply chains or in any part of our business.

Our policies in relation to the Modern Slavery Act 2015

The following policies are available to all staff through the Axis HR portal:

  • Dignity in the workplace policy (incorporating Harassment and bullying).
  • Equality policy.
  • Grievance policy.
  • Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking policy
  • Recruitment policy.
  • Whistleblowing policy

Axis ensures that all employees are paid more that the living wage.

Our supply chain

Our supply chains are limited, and we procure goods and services from a restricted range of UK and overseas suppliers.

Through modifying our own operations and encouraging our suppliers to do so, we consider the social, environmental and financial impact of our business throughout our supply chain.

This statement is applicable to all persons working for us or on our behalf in any capacity, including employees, trustees, agency workers, seconded workers, volunteers, interns, contractors, external consultants and business partners.

Embedding the principles

We ensure that the principles within this commitment are embedded at Axis by:

  • Delivering a mandatory e-learning training module to all new recruits to Axis as part of their induction process, as well as annual refresher training.
  • Continuing to take action to embed a zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery.
  • Ensuring that our procurement strategies and contract terms and conditions include references to modern slavery and human trafficking.
  • As part of our Social Value Action Plan, we regularly conduct a mapping exercise of our supply chain to understand it better, ensure its values align with Axis’s and to provide supportive communications to encourage social value.
